Tanner made the BHS Swim Team!

Hooray!  I'm so excited.  Tanner made the swim team.  He tried out a couple weeks ago in the freezing cold, and now he will be a part of the JV swim team this winter semester.  Here are some pictures I took with my NEW phone!

Here he is waiting for his heat.  There were 16 total heats.  He was heat #10.  It really was cold.  I had on a jacket.  I felt a little bad for him.

Here is Tanner's competition, which he didn't really seem to notice.  The guy on the right is a senior and, obviously, a fantastic swimmer.  I couldn't believe Tanner was in the same heat as he was. It didn't seem to bother Tanner at all.

On your mark, get set . . .

 GO!
This is the first time Tanner has jumped off the block!

Swimming the butterfly stroke.  Everyone had to swim all four strokes - freestyle, breast, back, and butterfly.  At the end of the butterfly Tanner said his arms were killing him.

 Finally done!
It took at least 3 hours of standing around and swimming to get through everyone's heat. At first, Tanner didn't think he made it because he couldn't see his name on the list when the coach posted the results - but later, when he checked again, his name WAS there!  Hooray!  I'm so happy for him!

Turkey Craft

Yesterday while Lola slept, Teo and I made turkeys!  It was very fun.  I printed up some google images and got lots of cute ideas on what kinds of turkeys we could make.  Teo did an excellent job.

Teo did a great job cutting out the feathers.

His first turkey done.  Now on to the others.  We had a great time deciding which ones we would do.

Use a pinecone for your base.  Stick pipecleaner inside the pinecone for the feathers.  A pom pom can be the head.

Or you can also cut out feathers from foam.  I had some left over from Cub Scouts.

Fold your colored paper into a fan and stuff it into the paper tube.  Decorate head and wings.

Finished and Done!  I love them all!

Harvest Festival at Underwood Farms

This is becoming one of my favorite places to visit.  We had such a lovely time one afternoon feeding the cows and horses and running through the pumpkin patch.  We even rode on a tractor ride and picked sunflowers.  Super fun.

First, we get to pet the animals.

Teo loved this chicken with funky feathers on his head.  It let Teo pet it just like a dog!  I was amazed.

Bee was a little scared of the bigger animals, but she did love petting this bunny.

This is a combine converted into a slide.  It is super fast.  Both Teo and Bee did it.  Teo did it many, many times.  After three times, Bee had had enough.

 Hay pyramid to climb.

This is Buttercup.  We could feed her through this long tube.  Teo and Bee would roll down carrots to her so she could eat them.  Sometimes she would kick the fence for more.

Choo Choo train.  Lots of places to climb in and out of.

Here is a house made of pumkins.  Teo tried to pick them up.  Too heavy.  Bee enjoyed running in and out.

Don't get lost in the corn maze!  Actually, you can't get lost.  It only goes one way and lets you out at the end.

Time to look for pumpkins.  So many to choose from.

At the end of the day we take a tractor ride around the farm.  We passed by a sunflower field and a dad next to us was able to reach out and grab a couple for us to hold during the ride.  There were tons!

I must say, once we got home and put the kids to bed, they did not stir all night long.  They both sleep through the night.  Hooray for a fun, exhausting day.  Can't wait to go back.
